Appears the message of not drinking and driving is not getting through.
Thunder Bay police say a vehicle nearly broke a hydro pole in half last night on Walsh Street, shutting the road down until the pole was fixed.
Police charged the local 67-year old driver for having double the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
No one was injured.

Thunder Bay police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in front of 1425 Walsh Street where a hydro pole was struck. The accident caused severe front end damage to the vehicle and nearly broke the pole in half. The road had to be shut down while hydro repaired the lines.
The investigation revealed that the driver had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 67 year old local male was arrested and charged with impaired driving and drive over .08 mgs of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. No one was injured in this incident.
