The promise by the Ontario government to reduce the small business tax in the province by one per cent isn’t satisfying the president of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.
Charla Robinson insists the drop from 4.5 to 3.5 per cent, isn’t enough to make up for a 22 per cent increase in the minimum wage.
She claims a one percent tax reduction, which at best amounts of $5,000 is “nowhere near enough to offset the significant increase in labour costs to anyone who is employing a lot of people at the minimum wage level.”
Robinson tells us she’s “really disappointed” by the announcement.(File Photo)
