A local political expert doesn’t think Monday night’s US Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump swayed any undecided voters.
Lakehead University Political Science Professor Laure Paquette feels both candidates managed to hold onto their supporters, with neither changing any voter’s mind.
Paquette adds that while Clinton still wasn’t “warm and cuddly”, she finished the night better than her Republican opponent. Trump repeated several false statements, she says, and didn’t have enough material for a 90-minute debate.
#Trump doubled down on issues and repeated so many of his inaccuracies I’m kinda surprised. #uspoli

However, she says Trump did have some good moments Monday night. She claims his best was a comment that even with her three decades of experience, Hillary Clinton isn’t the kind of politician to solve the type of problems America faces.
Ultimately, Paquette says, polls and focus groups appear to have named Clinton the clear winner of the debate.
