A report for the Northern Policy Institute says bringing back the spring bear hunt to Northern Ontario would mean millions of dollars for our economy.
Author Mike Commito says the program was popular before it was banned and he believes it can be so once again if Americans were allowed to take part.
He says the non-residential component is key to his recommendation because past data shows they not only purchase hunting licences, but also the money they are obligated to spend based on the rules surrounding non-resident hunting can generate.
