The First Nations community in Northwestern Ontario is hoping no one forgets the misery of residential schools.

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation is holding its annual Orange Shirt walk Wednesday in the city to commemorate the victims of those schools.

NAN says ceremonies like the one today will begin to promote healing and reconciliation.

Starting at 11 am, participants will walk from City Hall to Pope John Paul the Second Elementary, the former site of the St. Joesph's Indian Residential School.
