Thunder Bay’s Home Depot has partnered with Shelter House to raise funds for at-risk and homeless youth.
The store is accepting donations at checkout and online at OrangeDoorProject.ca
Shelter House is using the donations to invest in infrastructure and resources, including training staff to better meet the needs of youth, purchasing laptops to assist with housing, work, and job searches, and purchasing new mattresses and food.
“Home Depot has made an incredible impact with the Orange Door Project campaign, and I’m looking forward to it again this season,” said Shelter House Executive Director Brendan Carlin. “Through the years, they’ve raised essential funds and awareness for a cause that often goes unseen, making a profound difference in the lives of young people who need stability, resources, and a safe place to call home.”
Home Depot Canada launched the Orange Door Project fundraising campaign in 2009.
Stores collaborate with local charities to support ongoing initiatives aimed at providing safe, stable housing and life skills for youth experiencing homelessness.
The company covers all administrative costs associated with the campaign, ensuring that 100 per cent of donations directly benefit each local community.
In 2023, The Home Depot Foundation set a target of raising $125 million by 2030.
Since the program got started it has raised over $18 million for youth across Canada.
