Thunder Bay is offering two leaf and yard waste curbside collection days this fall.
The first one is getting underway on Tuesday and is running until October 11.
During this window yard waste will be accepted on your normal recycling day.
“We’re pleased to provide two collections this fall,” said the Manager of Solid Waste & Recycling Services, Jason Sherband. “We’re hoping residents will take advantage of the opportunity to put out additional bundles of brush, leaves and yard waste over the two collections.”
Only kraft paper bags will be accepted for leaf and yard waste.
Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores.
After being filled, bags must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs) to be accepted.
Residents may also leave branches and brush at the curb for collection. Branches must be tied together with string or rope and they must be less than one metre long and 61 cm in diameter.
Grass clippings are not being accepted.
There is no limit on the number of bags for leaf and yard waste collection.
The second yard waste collection window is taking place between October 29, and November 8.
