Another resident from the region has won big, this time through Lotto Max in Nipigon.
Linda Robbins, a retiree from the public service, picked up a $500,000 Maxmillions prize in the February 16th draw.
She says she has been playing the lottery for decades, but this was her first big win, which she discovered when she checked her tickets at the store.
“My husband was wandering around the store and said, ‘Holler for me when you win!'” Linda said. “I used the ticket checker and when I saw ‘Big Winner’ appear on the screen, I thought it was an ad at first. I checked it again and saw the same message – so I yelled across the store for my husband! I could barely speak at that point – my heart was racing!”
Robbins says she plans to use her windfall to pay bills and share with her family, including purchasing a “new toy” for her husband.
The winning ticket was purchased at The Bargain Shop on Front Street in Nipigon.
According to OLG there was a second winning ticket with the same numbers, for the same draw, which was sold in Hamilton, however that ticket has yet to be claimed.
This win coincides with two other recent lottery wins in the region including a, Marathon man who picked up a $50k prize and a Nakina couple who now have two million reasons to be excited after a win from an early February draw.
