Deteriorating conditions, the result of recent warm weather, have prompted the temporary closure of all outdoor rinks in the city.
The one exception being Prince Arthur’s Landing.
While there is hope to get the season back on track, it isn’t going to happen soon according to city staff.
“The ice is extremely soft, and in some areas completely melted” said Cory Halvorsen, Manager, Parks & Open Spaces. “When the temperatures drop again, we will get out and attempt to repair the ice surfaces, but the forecast unfortunately isn’t showing lower temperatures until next week.”
The pad Prince Arthur’s Landing on the waterfront is refrigerated and will remain open for skating Monday to Wednesday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m and Thursday to Sunday 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
