City police have now laid a charge in connection to a collision on the city’s north side which claimed the life of a 10 year old child last year.
On May 23rd first responders were called to the intersection of Clarkson Avenue and Red River Road following a collision between a school bus and a pedestrian.
The investigation led by the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit, has resulted in a charge of Careless Driving Causing Death, contrary to section 130(3) of the Highway Traffic Act, against the driver of the school bus.
They appeared in court in October and the matter remains before the Provincial Offences Court.
In a release a police spokesperson says the information is being released some time after the collision and charging date, and was put out after consultation with the victim’s family.
“This was a tragic incident that had a dramatic impact on all involved, and Thunder Bay as a whole.”
The release concludes by saying no names or further details will be released regarding the incident.
