A joint investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police, with assistance from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, has resulted in multiple drug and weapons charges against a Dryden man following a traffic stop in the community.
Just after 2:00 p.m on December 20th police pulled the vehicle over on West River Road, there officers discovered an undisclosed amount of what they believe to be cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and morphine.
An unspecified amount of Canadian currency was also located.
This prompted the execution of a search warrant at a nearby home, where two prohibited weapons, ammunition and further evidence of drug trafficking was uncovered.
A 45 year old faces several charges including:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking x 4
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon x 2
- Possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order x 2
The accused as been remanded into custody and is slated to appear in court on December 27th.
