A structural fire at a Bethune Street home Thursday resulted in one fire fighter sustaining a minor injury, requiring them to be taken to hospital for evaluation.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue say they were dispatched to a structural fire around 1:00 p.m., where they encountered heavy smoke emanating from the rear of the building.
No occupants of the home were injured as they had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of fire fighters.
Crews quickly entered the building and began applying water, bringing the blaze under control quickly.
The resources of six pumper trucks, an aerial ladder and a command vehicle were also required on scene.
Residents are being reminded to ensure all smoke detectors are in working order.
