A recent survey from research and analytics firm Leger has found 79 percent of residents in Canada and 84 percent of residents in the US, when asked about a number of conspiracies, believe at least one is true.
Conspiracies presented to respondents ranged from JFK’s assassination being a cover up to the lunar landing being a hoax.
Just over 1,500 Canadians and 1,000 Americans were included in the survey.
Of the 79 percent of Canadians who believe in the conspiracies, 87 percent of them lean towards the right of the political spectrum.
Among the highest conspiracy belief was mainstream media manipulating information, with 55 percent of total respondents agreeing with the statement, with the highest subcategories belief of Albertans at 68 percent, those aged 35 to 54 years old at 60 percent, and women at 57 percent.
While some of the aforementioned theories are very popular, others not so much, only 16 percent of respondents believe global warming doesn’t exist, visible streaks left by aircraft in the sky are actually chemicals intentionally sprayed for various undisclosed purposes, known as ‘chemtrails’ sits at 12 percent, and when it comes to the Flat Earther movement, only 5 percent believe in it.
