As the terrestrial radio landscape continues to change, Ford Canada will be transitioning away from AM radio in all of its vehicles.
Starting for the 2024 production year from the US, Ford will follow the lead set out by other car makers to remove the AM radio feature from the car’s dashboard. BMW, Mazda, Volvo, Tesla and Volkswagen have already moved on for a claim of drivetrain interference.
Ford will still offer FM options, as well as the growing digital options of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SiriusXM.
While the removal of the feature might not surprise some, there are more than 180 AM stations across Canada, with many of them located in Ontario and British Columbia.
AM radio has been around since 1906 but started commercially in the States in the 1920s. The first AM radio station in Canada was established in Montreal in 1932.
