An inquest is set for mid-April surrounding the death of Moses Beaver.
The Indigenous artist died in the hospital in February 2017 after being transferred from the Thunder Bay Jail.
The inquest is expected to last about 20 days, and hear from as many as 32 witnesses.
Reviewing the events surrounding the 56-year-olds death will be looked at by jurors, and recommendations will likely be made to prevent future deaths from happening in similar situations.
The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on April 17, 2023, at 189 Red River Rd., main floor auditorium, Thunder Bay. Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion will preside as inquest officer. Julian Roy and Robert Kozak will be the inquest counsel.
