Thunder Bay Police Services has had an acting police chief for several months.
This came after Chief Sylvie Hauth announced her retirement last year, stepped down in June 2022 and her retirement became effective at the end of January 2023. Shortly after her announcement, it was made public that an internal investigation would be against her and other officers in related matters.
While speaking with Acadia News, Mayor Ken Bishcoff, said they were close to selecting a new police chief for the city.
He indicated that if the two remaining candidates a couple more days of full-day interviews were likely needed but that a new chief would be announced “very soon.
Acting Chief, Dan Taddeo, has been filling the role since Hauth stepped down.
