Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed an aircraft did land on Highway 11 near Shebandowan, as the result of mechanical issues.
However a police spokesperson says the aircraft was able to take off from the highway and safely land back at the Thunder Bay Airport.
The highway was closed for approximately 20 minutes as a result of the incident.
Ontario 511, along with the OPP are reporting that an emergency aircraft is using Hwy 11 to make a hasty landing.
Both lanes of the highway have been closed for safety precautions.
No details as to why the plane is landing on the roadway have been provided.
