No injuries have been reported but there is some damage to two homes following two early morning fires in the city’s north end.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called to an Ambrose Street home at 3:15 a.m. for a structural fire.
While on approach the first crews observed light smoke from the rear of the property. Upon arrival the fire was found to be contained within the walls of a garage at the rear of the structure, which was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
30 minutes later another report of a structural fire was reported, this time on Windemere Avenue North. Firefighters were able to see a large volume of smoke and flames emanating from a garage located at the rear of the property, prompting a second alarm bringing two additional pumpers and an aerial ladder to the scene.
The fire was eventually brought under control.
Damage is extensive to both the garage and its contents including two vehicles.
