Following a two year Covid-19 induced hiatus the CP Holiday Train is back on track bringing live music to residents across the country.
In addition to getting people into the festive spirit, is also used as a fundraiser for food banks in the communities the train stops in. With food costs rising the demand is very high this year according to spokesperson Salem Woodrow.
“The need is great, we have seen and heard from food banks from along our journey that are saying usage is increasing in their communities.”
Residents attending the shows can bring either non-perishable food items OR money to donate to the food banks.
Taking the stage at all the stops in the Northwest is Tenille Townes and Aysanabee.
There are two stops left on the trip today, the first in Nipigon at 5:30 p.m. taking place on the CP property in the middle of the community near the town hall,
then train will make its way through Thunder Bay and stop at the CP Train Depot on Syndicate Avenue at 8:30 p.m.
Tomorrow Ignace residents will have a morning show starting at 9 a.m. at the CP train station in that community, followed up by Dryden’s show taking place at the CP yard entrance at the corner of Queen Street and Earl Avenue at 11:30 a.m., residents in the Vermilion Bay area can gather at the Bay Street rail crossing at 1:00 p.m., then the final stop of the Northwestern Ontario tour segment will be in Kenora at 3:20 p.m.
