When the in-slab ice cooling system failed last week, the Delaney Arena had to close for repairs.
At the time the City was unsure how long that would be.
The Delaney Arena is set to reopen, today, Nov. 15 after having the issue repaired.
“Without prompt action by Arena staff last week when they detected the problem, more ice time would have been lost,” said City Manager Norm Gale in a release. “I’m pleased, on behalf of all ice-time users, that Delaney Arena will be back to normal so quickly.”
The City states that full repairs will happen once the ice rental season winds up in the spring of 2023.
Thunder Bay’s Recreation & Culture department will work with groups to re-schedule ice rentals as operations return to normal.
