Tomorrow morning, Canadians will gather from coast to coast to honour those who fought and made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts around the world.
Here in Thunder Bay residents will have several options on where to go for Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Waverly Park will once again be hosting an outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph starting at 10:20 a.m.
Port Arthur Legion Branch Five 2nd Vice President George Romick, who will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, says there will be lots of happening there.
“The parade marching on, the laying of wreaths, and again we will have Carol Klukie, who will be the Silver Cross Mother.”
Klukie’s son, Private Josh Klukie, was killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2006.
Romick adds a noticeable shift is starting to be seen in the number and demographic of veterans in attendance.
“The changing of the tide is that unfortunately, the older veterans are passing away, so the new veterans are coming up to do the ceremony at Waverly Park.”
A second outdoor ceremony will be taking place by the Fort William First Nation, atop Mount McKay, beginning at 1030 a.m.
Meanwhile, an indoor ceremony will be taking place at the Fort William Gardens for the first time in two years. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with the ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m.
