On Friday 55 thousand members of CUPE who work in Ontario’s schools are set to walk off the job, however the Ford Government introduced back-to-work legislation this afternoon.
But as all that plays out in Southern Ontario, in a statement Lakehead Public School Board Director of Education Sherri-Lynne Pharand says the board is keeping an eye on the situation:
“While Lakehead Public Schools is not directly involved in the provincial negotiations, we remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached. We are continuing to assess the impact that a full withdrawal of services would have on our schools in order to be prepared for all potential outcomes. Updates will be provided through the Board website and social media channels.”
In the LPSB only custodial staff are involved in the strike action.
