As results from the Municipal Election are released another set of results from voters has come out…..this time in connection to the Tbaytel For Good Community Fund competition.
A total of 30 thousand dollars is being given out in 10 thousand dollar increments to three community organizations here in the Northwest.
The winners include the “Make a Big Splash Spray Park Committee” in Fort Frances which aims to build a splash park as part of a large-scale rehabilitation of Legion Park.
“It is because of this generous contribution that we are one step closer to ‘making a big splash’ at the community’s new splash park,” said Make a Big Splash Spray Park Committee Chair Becky Andrusco in a release.
Northern Reach Rescue Network which rescues dogs and cats from across the region, supports spay and neuter clinics, and promotes education around healthy lifestyles for family pets,
and DEK Foundation and its Backpacks for Help program, which provides backpacks to help those before, during and after addiction treatment, which will assist in their emotional and physical recovery journey.
Tbaytel Spokesperson Jamie Smith says more than 486 thousand votes were cast during the contest.
“It really is remarkable to see, not only the submissions come in, but also the community support that rallies around them throughout this process,” says Smith speaking with Acadia News, “and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
The Tbaytel For Good Community Fund has been operating since 2013, and underwent an overhaul in 2021, which saw fewer winners, but larger grants.
Since its inception the fund has received 504 submissions, funded 96 projects, with $306,342 distributed.
