A 35 year old city resident is facing several charges in relation to an incident where they collided with a fire hydrant, then fell asleep behind the wheel.
Officers were called to a single vehicle collision in the Kenogami Avenue and Red River Road area shortly after 630 Wednesday morning, there they found a pool of water and a broken fire hydrant.
Later officers found a black pickup truck in the Carrie Street-Algonquin Avenue area. As they approached the still running vehicle, they observed a woman slumped over in the driver’s seat. Once awakened, officers observed multiple signs of impairment.
During the arrest the woman provided officers with a fake name, but a further investigation revealed their true identity.
The woman has been charged with the following:
• Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Obstruct Peace Officer • Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2They appeared in bail court Thursday and were remanded into custody.
