You may never again have to rush to plug your parking meter.
The city will be looking for interested companies to bid on a proposal for parking meters you can control through your smartphone, much to the delight of Councillor Shelby Ch’ng.
She says it’s something she has “had on the radar for about a year-and-a-half.”
Ch’ng tells it came about after she attended a conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Since then she, along with the owner of Up Shot Coffeehouse on May Street, have been pushing administration behind the scenes, to bring the idea to the forefront
A request for proposals will be going out shortly from the Thunder Bay Parking Authority.
