More correctional officers are coming to our region, specifically.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General is hiring 123 new officers across the province in order to improve services and public safety.
Of those 123 new hires, 17 are coming to Thunder Bay Correctional Centre and another 15 officers will be spread across Northwestern Ontario; Fort Frances, Monteith Correctional Complex, Kenora Jail and Sudbury Jail.
Over the next five years, the province plans on putting in more than five hundred million dollars to upgrade facilities as well as investing in new recruits by covering the cost of training.
