Lisa LaFlamme is no longer senior editor and chief anchor of CTV National News.
Parent company Bell Media announced it made a business decision to end her contract after 35 years with CTV and move in a different direction.
“I was blindsided and I’m still shocked and saddened by Bell media’s decision,” said LaFlamme in a two-minute long video posted on her Twitter account Monday afternoon.
“While it is crushing to be leaving CTV National News in a manner that is not my choice, please know reporting to you has truly been the greatest honour of my life and I thank you for always being there.”
LaFlamme said she learned her contract was ending on June 29 and was told to keep it confidential until the terms of her departure were worked out.
Bell Media also announced that CTV News correspondent Omar Sachedina will replace LaFlamme starting September 5.
