It’ll be a moment to adjust how you look for some Coca-Cola products in the future.
The drink producer announced that in order to support sustainable packaging, they will be changing the colour of some of their bottles; including Sprite, Dasani and Fresca.
Starting August 1st, production will shift to clear packaging for the Sprite bottles after having launched in 1961 in the US. The green bottles are PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastics which are recyclable, but get sorted out as to not muddy the recycling waters when it’s broken down. By doing this it creates a circular recycling economy and increases the lifespan of PET plastics.
The only thing that will likely remain green will be the caps and labels.
