With the cold temperatures in town and an extreme cold warning in effect by Environment Canada, some of you might be trying the boiling water challenge. The temperature of boiling water drops drastically when thrown outside in the very cold weather and changes into a snow-like mist. The challenge started showing up on social media and it looks great, but doctors are warning you not to do it.
At -28 with a chill of -38 it’d be rude not to do the #boilingwaterchallenge #yyc #calgary #alberta pic.twitter.com/EugK9MksNQ

The challenge has sent many people to the hospital with severe burns, where some are getting splashed back with the boiling water, and even many children in the process. It all depends on how you throw the water and the direction of the wind, and some of it could still hit you before it has a chance to freeze.
