In Step Three of the provincial reopening plan, Thunder Bay’s Community Auditorium is able to open with 50 per cent capacity.
Despite this, they are deciding to wait until they can have a full house before opening their doors.
General Manager Bob Halvorsen says you can still purchase tickets for future shows.
“I can tell you, we are not going out and pursuing any activity until we can do so at 100 per cent,” Halvorsen said. “I can tell you also that the shows that are scheduled and are on sale right now are all anticipating that we’re going to be at 100 per cent.”
Halvorsen adds tickets for July Talk in December and The Glorious Sons in February are currently the shows on sale.
“We are playing it safe in that the auditorium as a promoter of shows, where we actually go out and buy things and put them on sale, we’re not currently engaging in that right now,” explains Halvorsen. “Any of the shows that you currently see on sale on our website are shows we call rentals, where they are just renting the building, and the risk in presenting those shows are theirs, and not the auditoriums.”
Halvorsen notes shows, especially live music, are not the same experience with social distancing and limited capacity.
