The Canadian Premier League is coming to Winnipeg.
Canada’s top-tier professional men’s soccer league has announced that they’re starting their third season with what they’re calling “The Kickoff Presented By Volkswagen“.
Starting June 26th, all eight teams will play eight matches each at IG Field.
The first match will feature FC Edmonton taking on Atlético Ottawa.
The league says that after the made for tv kickoff event, they’ll re-evaluate the clubs returning to play at their home stadiums in front of their supporters.
Last season at The Island Games in PEI, Winnipeg’s Valour FC finished sixth in the first stage of the competition.
Valour will open up The Kickoff on June 27th against two-time CanPL champion Forge FC from Hamilton.
