There will be a current Thunder Bay city councillor on the ballot for the next provincial election.
The Ontario PC party says At-large councillor Peng You will be its choice for voters next year, for Thunder Bay-Superior North, running against Liberal incumbent Michael Gravelle.
A list of issues are top of mind for the candidate… addressing COVID-19 is number one, followed by recovering the economy which includes mining. “Lots of industry ready to bring more fresh money to Thunder Bay. How can we get more support from the provincial level?”
The city councillor adds as a small business owner, he feels Premier Ford has done a great job in keeping the province safe, and bringing it back to recovery.
You adds he is aware of criticism he is moving from city politics to the provincial level, before the next municipal vote in the same year. He says he’s not just jumping around, adding he’ll keep working for the city.
“It happens many, many times at city council chambers when people go from city councillor to the next level of election, of government officials,” says the candidate.
Peng You adds he’ll bring the same energy to the MPP role as Doug Ford does as Premier.
