A unique distinction for a new Pedestrian Crossover in the city
The crossover at John and Marlborough streets actually borders both the Red River and McKellar wards.
Councillors Brian KcKinnon and Brian Hamilton met in the middle of the road for an elbow bump to mark the activation.
“A lot of the kids are going to be all excited to go back because they really haven’t seen anybody in months. We figured ‘oh boy, they’re going to be running around like crazy’ so this is a real bonus that they got it done, we’re really pleased” says McKinnon.
“People are becoming more in tune with how to use these Pedestrian Crosswalks. We’re seeing a lot more people compliant with the actual intended operation of them” indicates Hamilton.
Pioneer Drive and Wyndale Street, Court Street and McVicar Street, and Neebing Avenue and Mary Street will also get a crossover.
As for kids heading back to school, La Verendrye Catholic school opened Thursday, and Lakehead University students went back to their dorms as well.
