The driver of a stolen vehicle is facing charges after fleeing from police.
Officers were on patrol in the Vickers Street and Donald Street East area on Tuesday morning when a vehicle that had been reported stolen was seen.
They were able to locate the vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop.
The driver drove away, along the sidewalk, and across front yards before getting back on the road and speeding away.
Officers did not pursue the suspect at this time in the interest of public safety.
A resident on Broadmore Avenue contacted police about 15 minutes later reporting that there was an unknown vehicle in their backyard.
Officers went to the home and found the unoccupied vehicle.
They followed footprints and located the suspect who still had the keys to the vehicle in his possession.
As a result, a 29-year-old is facing the following charges:
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
- Obstruct peace officer
- Flight from a peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
