Environment Canada is forecasting heavy rain for Thunder Bay on Tuesday.
Early Tuesday afternoon, 60 millimetres of rain had been reported on the ground, with an additional 20 millimetres of rain a possibility through the evening.
They initially issued a Special Weather Statement predicting 40 to 50 millimetres of rain.
Wind gusts nearing 70 km/h are predicted with averages around 40 km/h.
Environment Canada says heavy rain can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, as well as potential localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The rain is expected to continue into Wednesday and Thursday with a chance of the rainfall transitioning partly or fully to snow.
