Another successful cruise season in Thunder Bay.
This season, cruise line passenger spending generated over $4.7 million (CAD) in direct economic impact for the city.
“In addition to welcoming thousands of visitors and generating millions in economic impact, Thunder Bay has benefited from significant media exposure generated by the expedition cruising market,” said the Manager of Tourism Thunder Bay, Paul Pepe. “This tells our city and region’s stories to a global audience in a way that elevates our destination awareness for cruisers and non-cruisers alike.”
This year four cruise ships made 16 vessel stops and over 6,000 passengers visited the city up from 5,000 last year.
The economic impact of all Great Lakes visits totalled over $205 million (USD), an increase of nearly 50 per cent from 2022.
Heading into next season Victory Cruise Lines is returning to the region with itineraries from Victory I and II.
