Two more Thunder Bay police officers have been assaulted.
Both incidents occurred over about four hours over the weekend.
On Friday around 10:15 p.m. officers responded to a dispute on Yonge Street.
While an officer was trying to make an arrest they were repeatedly kicked by the suspect.
As a result, a 20-year-old Thunder Bay resident is facing the following charges:
- Assault x3
- Assaulting a peace officer
Early Saturday morning around 2:00 a.m. officers responded to reports of an assault on Red River Road.
An officer tried to intervene in a group of people fighting and they were punched in the face.
The identity of the suspect is unknown.
Neither of the officers required medical attention.
According to city police rates of assault against local officers are significantly higher than the provincial average.
