Tourism Thunder Bay says affordable Porter Airlines flights will attract more tourists to Thunder Bay.
Porter Airlines introduced the newest route between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT) yesterday, with three roundtrip flights operating per week.
Manager of Tourism Thunder Bay, Paul Pepe, says the new route is great news for Thunder Bay in terms of offering new options and new affordability.
“It makes Thunder Bay a more affordable destination with more air connectivity options when we’re attracting convention and sport events, as well as leisure travelers,” says Pepe. “This is a welcome announcement from Porter and we’re looking forward to promoting that route.”
Porter has been serving Thunder Bay since 2009 with trips between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, without Toronto-Pearson on the list.
Pepe adds this will give Tourism more options to sell the city.
“People have become much more cost sensitive in the past few years, so this gives us an advantage when looking to attract visitors by air.”
Toronto-Pearson service begins October 16, 2024.
