A northwestern Ontario Oji-Cree singer-songwriter has now won not one, but two of Canadian music’s top awards.
Aysanabee took home Songwriter of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year as part of the 2024 Juno Awards
A member of the Sandly Lake First Nation, who grew up in the Kaministiqua area, he began creating his own music during the pandemic.
This wasn’t his first appearance at the Junos, last year he was nominated for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year.
