Once again, the world turns its gaze towards the latest unveiling of the 2024 World Happiness Report. Amidst the fanfare, Finland emerges victorious yet again, securing its status as the happiest nation for the seventh consecutive year!
However, the spotlight casts a shadow on the United States, which finds itself plunging to unprecedented depths. For the first time since the report’s inception in 2012, the U.S. fails to even secure a spot in the top 20 list, signaling a stark decline in its happiness index.
This annual assessment meticulously evaluates happiness across more than 140 nations, scrutinizing six key dimensions: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption. Drawing from an array of data sources including the Gallup World Poll, this comprehensive analysis culminates in a snapshot of global well-being.
Timed to coincide with the International Day of Happiness on March 20, the report stands as a collaborative effort, forged through partnerships between entities such as the U.N. Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Gallup, and the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre.
Amidst these global happiness revelations, it’s worth noting that Thunder Bay proudly boasts the largest Finnish population outside of Finland. With such a significant Finnish presence, it’s no wonder that happiness seems to permeate the air here. Indeed, our community is likely brimming with joyous individuals, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of contentment that characterizes Thunder Bay.
