Double checking a ticket proved to be a good idea for two Nakina residents after winning the top Ontario 49 draw prize of $2,000,000 in early February.
Danielle Ferraro and Stephanie Ricard say they have been regular players of both Ontario 49 and LOTTARIO for the past decade.
“We were sitting at a table having a morning coffee when we checked our tickets,” Stephanie shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. “The first ticket we checked we won $500, so I was happy.”
But the second ticket, proved to be the one which changed their lives.
“I said to Danielle, ‘I think we won $2,000! I showed him the screen and that’s when he said, ‘No, that’s $2 million!'”
“I felt like I was in a dream,” Danielle said. “I jumped up and gave Stephanie the biggest hug then started pacing. It’s such a shock and unbelievable experience.”
The couple plans to invest and take time to think about how they wish to spend their winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pennock’s Tourist Service Inc. on Cordingly Lake Road in Nakina.
