He’s worked along side science fiction and fantasy legends Sigourney Weaver, Ryan Reynolds, Alan Rickman and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, and this fall Canadian actor Jed Rees will be coming to Thunder Bay’s premiere pop culture event, Thundercon.
Rees has portrayed characters in a large range of film and television shows over the years, including Galaxy Quest, Deadpool, Lake Placid, Pretty Little Liars, The X-Files and the cult-classic Men With Brooms.
“We’re so excited to finally add Galaxy Quest to our list of franchises represented,” says Media Director, Heather Dickson. “And with Jed there, we can’t wait to see a few Thermians marching around the con this year!”
Rees played Teb, one of the awkward but lovable aliens from the enduring classic starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. Dickson adds that, with the release of Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine this summer, Rees will be ThunderCon’s first official Marvel Cinematic Universe guest.
“The original Deadpool movie was shot in Vancouver,” Dickson says. “And it was a celebration of Canadian talent, with Ryan Reynolds at the helm. Jed played the Recruiter, the one responsible for enrolling Wade Wilson into the Weapon X program in a delightfully wicked way.”
“Jed has been asking about the convention since last year,” says agent Bobby Banks of Jewelite Superstars. “He’s excited to be a guest and meet fans of Galaxy Quest and Deadpool.”
Last month, Thundercon, in addition to announcing it would be back for 2024, announced Star Trek: Discovery’s Patrick Kwok-Choon, who was unable to make it in 2023, would instead be beaming in this year.
Thundercon’s now in its 8th year will be taking place on September 21-22, and Dickson says more guest announcements are just around the corner.
