Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service could soon be deployed to a First Nation in the northern portion of the Kenora district.
A new partnership has developed between city police, Ontario Provincial Police and Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, also known as KI or Big Trout Lake.
This agreement will allow TBPS officers to police the community, located 600 km North of Thunder Bay, alongside members of the OPP.
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug recently welcomed the TBPS and officers are set to participate in activities with a goal of familiarizing them with the community.
It marks the latest expansion of relationship building the service has made in recent years.
The new initiative is expected to begin at the start of April.
