A new chair but a familiar face for the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board.
McKellar Ward councillor Brian Hamilton, who has been one of the representatives for the City of Thunder Bay on the Board of Directors since 2019, was elected chair for 2024 during the December meeting.
He calls the appointment an honour and has high hopes for the future.
“As a Board member I’ve watched the organization evolve and grow with the needs of the community. As Board Chair I intend to deepen my involvement, sharpen our advocacy and well-represent the district at the provincial tables. It’s a very exciting time for the TBDSSAB.”
Hamilton takes over from Mayor Ken Boshcoff who had previously held the position.
The board has also elected a new vice-chair, Manitouwadge councillor Jim Moffatt.
“Brian and Jim bring substantial expertise to the table that will contribute to the success of TBDSSAB’s strategic goals and advocacy efforts.”said Chief Administrative Officer Bill Bradica.
In total the TBDSSAB Board of Directors consists of fourteen members, thirteen of whom are appointed by the various municipal councils throughout the district, with one being selected by qualified electors of the Territory Without Municipal Organization for a four-year term.
