Two investigations are now underway by Ontario’s police watchdog into allegations of sexual assault by members of the Thunder Bay Police Service.
The first investigation was reported to the Special Investigation’s Unit on December 13th and stems from an OIPRD complaint of an incident which is alleged to have taken place in February of 2021.
The second is alleged to have occurred on December 16th of this year, the same day the SIU was notified.
While the cases are separate, they are being investigated by the same team of two investigators.
Officials state due to the sensitive nature of the allegations, and for privacy of those involved, the SIU will not be commenting further while the investigation takes place.
