2024 is looking bright for a French Catholic school board here in Northwestern Ontario.
Officials with Conseil Scholaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales are getting set to expand their ability to provide education, specifically High School level education to the region.
Director of Education Mireille Major-Levesque says the initial focus is for its student body in Ignace and Dryden.
“We will be able to offer satellite sites at those schools, with the exception of Red Lake which we’re still working on looking for a different site just because of a lack of space at that elementary school.”
Once the program is up and running to the west, the plan is to incorporate students attending schools in the Marathon, Terrace Bay, Greenstone.
With the further potential of expanding to other areas such as Kenora or Fort Frances where there are French language students with limited or no access to elementary or high school French language education.
