Atikokan residents can once again enjoy clean water from their taps as the Township has rescinded its boil water advisory.
The advisory was issued on May 10 after a culvert failed, which ended up damaging a waterline and causing a washout on Mercury Avenue – affecting the town’s water supply.
Water services were offline for a few hours before being restored with a boil water advisory in place.
The Town says testing of the water supply did not indicate the presence of any bacteria, and the supply has been deemed safe for human consumption once again.
A gas line was also damaged in the incident but no leaks were detected and Enbridge Gas crews were dispatched for maintenance work.
