Thunder Bay’s annual gathering of all things sci-fi and fantasy has announced its first guest to appear at Thundercon this fall, comic book writer Larry Hama.
Hama is best known for creating the G.I. Joe comic series based on the Hasbro toy line of the same name.
“We’re extremely excited to be bringing comic book legend, Larry Hama, to our event,” says ThunderCon Chair, Linda Fogen Madsen. “His big ticket is G.I. Joe, but he’s got so many other characters under his belt that he’s had a hand in developing over the years.”
Hama, who has been working in the entertainment and publishing industry since the 1960s, has worked for both Marvel and DC Comics on various properties owned by those houses, including Wolverine, Iron Fist, Batman, Wonder Woman and Super Friends.
“I don’t get to many Canadian events,” says Hama, “So I’m really looking forward to this.”
In addition to his work in the comic sector, Hama is also an artist, actor and musician.
Thundercon will take over the CLE Coliseum on September 9th and 10th.
