This Saturday, the Atikokan OPP are hosting a long weekend food drive on Saturday will bring in much-needed items for our food banks.
Autumn Eadie the OPP’s Communications Officer for the Northwest, told Acadia News it’s essential for police to be involved in building positive community relationships in the smaller communities.
Food bank usage has increased significantly in the past few years, and the most needed items are non-perishables like peanut butter, pasta, sauce and canned fruits and veggies.
While OPP will be in Atikokan for this food drive, many grocery stores have food bank donation boxes set up for customers to drop off items.
