A new coach is in place for the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team.
Hugo Boisvert was at College Laval as head coach and coordinator from 2014 – 2019, where he then moved to be the mens’ lead assistant coach until now.
Boisvert will become the 10th coach of the women’s basketball program on June 1, 2023. Before his official start with the team, Boisvert will be engaged in recruiting efforts to build the roster for his 2023-2024 bench.
The new face for the team comes after an extensive investigation from the school and CBC where the previous team’s head coach, Jon Kreiner, is alleged to have stolen thousands from athletes and team members over the course of his long tenure as head coach of the women’s basketball team since 2003.
Kriener was also publically accused of maltreatment of the teams and players he was given tutelage for in the manner of bullying, harassment and tantrum-like outbursts.
In a statement from LU on the appointment of Boisvert,
